Dr. Burckell received her Ph.D.
in 2007 from Stony Brook University. She completed a clinical
internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Borderline Personality
Disorder Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
in Toronto, Ontario. She joined the Borderline Personality Disorder
Service at St. Joe’s in March 2009. Dr. Burckell works at the two
outpatient clinics offering Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) –
Community Psychiatry Services and East Region Mental Health. As a
psychologist in the program, she conducts individual and group DBT
therapy and psychological assessments. Dr. Burckell has published
peer-reviewed journal articles, and has made a number of
presentations at international scientific meetings. Dr. Burckell’s
research focuses on therapeutic processes in the treatment of
borderline personality disorder. In particular, she is interested in
focusing on the role of the therapeutic relationship in treatment.
Dr. Burckell’s clinical interests include DBT, borderline
personality disorder, psychotherapy integration, and treatment for
sexual minority individuals.
