Dr. Chaimowitz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry
and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University in Hamilton. He is the
Head of Service, Forensic Psychiatry at St. Joseph’s Healthcare. In addition
to subspecialty psychiatry certification, he has an MBA from the University
of Toronto. He has a longstanding interest in First Nations mental health and
acts as a consultant psychiatrist to the James Bay Cree communities of Northern
Ontario. His continuing medical education activities include organizing the
McMaster Muskoka Seminars, now in its 9th year. He is a member of both
the Ontario Review Board and the Consent and Capacity Board. He is secretary
both to the Canadian Academy of Psychiatry and the Law as well as the Canadian
Psychiatric Association Native Mental Health Section. He is a member of the
Canadian Psychiatric Association Professional Standards and Practice Council.
